REFLECTIONS | ANNALICE ARGYLE
Title
What Annalice Argyle Taught Me About Recovery and Reclaiming Life.
The Story
Annalice Argyle, founder of TRAC UK and the WOW women’s wellness event, shares her journey through addiction, ADHD, and personal struggles to a place of healing and self-acceptance. In this honest conversation, she reflects on reconnecting with her son, embracing life as a newly single woman, and her mission to support others on their path to recovery and growth.
Opening
From the very start Annalice was engaged within the conversation, open to talking about her journey and a common ground regarding ADHD and understanding what it is and how it affects everyday life. Spending a lot of time overthinking life in your head is something Annalice was familiar with, so we got straight into a full depth conversation from the start.
What Stayed With Me
Being brought up in a specific generation will always shape the person you become, and I could really relate to Annalice and her background. We all think that a story of struggle and addiction resembles a narrative similar to Trainspotting, but it doesn’t. It’s sometimes a slow gradual process where a certain way of life becomes normal because you’re in it. There’s an excitement to it all. It’s only when you start to see the wheels buckle, that’s when reality kicks back in.
The Bigger Reflection
Self love. Purpose. Understanding who you really are. Not being ashamed of the DNA and your lived experience that makes up who you are. Not letting others make you feel bad for being you. It’s a human trait to push boundaries, test the water, the ego steps in, competition kicks in, societal norms take precedent and before you know it your in the chase. Then 20 years has gone by, and, if it didn’t really pan out, the regret kicks in. I understand, if it didn’t then we wouldn’t invent things, you wouldn’t be reading this and I wouldn’t be typing this either. But if you really step back, really stop and think, you, yourself, what is it you really want, who do you really want to be.
A Line I Won’t Forget
“Don’t give up”
Annalice only mentioned this at the end, in her message to anyone out there needing a little reassurance. She never alluded to it throughout her story telling as she spoke about her journey. But, these words are from lived experience. Coming through the other side. Someone who has been there will know these words are important to hear.
Closing Thought
We all have to go through our journey, the good and the bad. It’s your approach to the situation that makes the difference in your life. It is complex, but you still have a choice.
