REFLECTIONS | CHRIS NICHOLAS
Title
What Chris Nicholas Taught Me About Building Brotherhood In Cold Water
The Story
Chris Nicholas was once a confident teenager, until acne began to erode his self-esteem. What followed was a journey through party culture, anxiety, and panic attacks, leading to acceptance and self-improvement. Now the founder of Ice Guys, Chris not only rebuilt himself but helps other men with their mental health. A story with real impact.
Opening
Chris has become a friend, someone I’ve spent time with while filming, alongside mental health stories one, about his CIC company, Ice Guys. I’d told the story of how he helps others, but we’d never really gone into his own journey.
What Stayed With Me
This conversation went deeper than I expected. What started as curiosity turned into something emotional, especially when Chris spoke about the moment he admitted he had a problem to his doctor.
You could see it hit him. That felt like the turning point.
The Bigger Reflection
Setting up something like Ice Guys to help others takes real commitment. But it starts with doing the work on yourself first. Knowing you need help, and actually admitting it, is one of the hardest things, especially for men.
Chris represents that shift. He’s been through it, and now uses it to help others, while still helping himself along the way.
A Line I Won’t Forget
“I think you should stop taking drugs, Christopher.”
Sometimes it only takes one sentence, something you already know deep down, to force a change.
Hearing it out loud can be the moment everything shifts.
Closing Thought
Chris has a lightness about him now, like he’s already faced his lowest point.
It feels behind him. What drives him now isn’t just himself, but purpose, helping others move through what he’s already lived. As Chris would say, “Good people doing good things”.
